BALANCED CTO Corey Clark, PhD Awarded Patent for HEWMEN Platform
BALANCED CTO Dr. Corey Clark‘s HEWMEN platform for collaborative processing of computer tasks was awarded a patent on May 10th, and featured in Dallas Innovates’ weekly highlights on U.S. patents granted with a connection to the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area as indicators of future economic growth, as well as the development of emerging markets and talent attraction.
The patent details the method by which gamers and streamers around the world can become the heroes they see on screen. HEWMEN harnesses players’ intelligence and raw problem-solving skills into computing power that researchers use to solve some of the world’s most challenging medical problems, and this technology is integrated into data-connected games like Rocks & Runes and Eye in the Sky: Defender so that play becomes research. Even in games embedded in BALANCED’s esports Twitch extensions, such as Whack-a-Gnoll and The Omega Cluster, HEWMEN transforms gameplay minutes along the livestream into time dedicated to helping isolate promising combinations of co-medication properties used to identify new chemotherapeutic treatments to fight cancer.
BALANCED congratulates Dr. Clark on the patent and commits to use HEWMEN technology to assist in research that could save countless lives by giving purpose to play. BALANCED will continue to develop meaningful media and technology to take gaming beyond entertainment.
